PvP Guidelines
Shinma is a roleplaying server, not some PvP arena. All PvP that is about to occur, must have a valid IC reason for taking place.
An opportunity for the opposing party to step out of PvP must be given, if they do not take this opportunity then they are clearly going along with the PvP.
Be sure to inform the opposing party, via a tell, that PvP is about to, or might occur.
If your character is an 'assassin' of some sort, and is about to perform an assassination, they should inform a DM, if a DM is not available; inform the target.
Any PvPing that gets out of hand should be reported to a DM immediately, griefing of any sort is not allowed.
During an event, all players apart of a possible PvP must agree to it. It is then up to the DM hosting the event to give his or her permission for said PvP to occur.

Leveling
Player vs. Module (PvM)
There are various hunting areas throughout the module, each of them catering to a certain level group. With each kill you should gain a descent amount of EXP points, and shall eventually be able to gain enough EXP to level up.
Roleplaying
Roleplaying is required on Shinma, and it is also encouraged. Progressive Roleplaying will be rewarded with experience by a DM on their digression.
Events
Every now and then, a DM may hold what is called an "event" where experience/RP Tokens may be handed out. Or a combination of both pending on the event itself. If you are goofing off, being OOC a lot during an event, you may be subject to experience docking and Token docking(When a DM takes away experience/Tokens when they feel it is necessary.). Warnings are generally issued, of course, before such actions are made.

Faction Rulings
Factions that have demonstrated exceptional RP, facilitating ability, and responsibility will be granted many benefits, including a sub-forum on the main forums for faction communications.
Being a faction leader earns you a lot of prestige, but for anyone wanting to be a faction leader they should consider the responsibility involved.
- If a faction leader should become inactive their position becomes forfeit to active members of the faction (though this
is of course ultimately dependent on IC circumstances).
- You can only be the faction leader of one group at a time.
- You must be prepared to handle any issues that come up in your faction, both ICly and OOCly (though naturally the DMs will step in if the situation gets out of hand).
This server is a persistent world, that means the actions carried out by factions will have a permanent effect, as will any considerable event caused by a player. Take this to mind.
__10 Excellent questions to ask for mentorship RP__
This is not gospel nor a chemistry instruction, simply an aide to help smooth and inspire that which is relevant to ones desires. The questions go both ways.
**OOC**
1. What is my timezone/availability? Hours, weekdays, etc.
2. What do I as the player want to get out of this? Expectations.
3. What bounderies must not be crossed if any? (Eg. certain RP themes, phobias)
4. What is my way to communicate ideas, needs and wants?
5. Special considerations, give yourself a moment to think on this.
**IC**.
6. What are my expectations as a mentor/apprentice?
7. What is important for me to achieve as mentor/apprentice?
8. What level of macro/micromanagement/guidance do I want?
9. What strengths does my mentor/apprentice have?
10. What flaws does my mentor/apprentice have?

Forum Etiquette
Be polite and courteous to the people in your community. Personal attacks, and insults will not be tolerated.
Be forum savvy. Stay on topic and take note of where you have placed your posts, to make sure it is in the right place. Keep your posts in theme with what you are addressing.

In-Game Etiquette
Be polite and courteous to the people in your community. Personal attacks, and insults will not be tolerated.
Stay In-Character (IC) as much as possible. The Talk channel should be kept IC, unless Out-Of-Character (OOC) text is essential for some reason. The Party channel is OOC mostly, though IC is permitted for certain cases. Denote OOC talk with a '//' or '((' before the text.
Never use OOC information in a IC way. This is called Metagaming, and is an offense that ruins many aspects of the RP.
Be considerate of other people's RP. You will not be a successful Roleplayer if your actions offend the player behind the character.
All RP that affects another character should be phrased as an attempt. This gives the other player time to consent to the action and react properly - whether it to be to allow it or avoid it.
Do not give your character god-like characteristics. This is called Godmoding, and is totally disallowed. The system in NWN should be followed when determining the physical statistics of your character, and in determining what they will be able to be successful at in their IC environment.
Adult Roleplay should not be in public. It will result in a warning, followed by level docking. In extreme cases, banning. If you really want to do this, you will keep it in tells, or, in a private room without anyone in the same area, in whisper.

Twinking&Muling
Twinking is giving another player items or money that is not ICly constituted, or the player deserves. If you feel that something you Barter with another player may be considered Twinking, ask a DM if the gift etc is acceptable.
- A player does not deserve an item when they have not gained it IG from their own hard work.
Muling is using any means to pass items from one of your characters to another. This is not allowed in any, and all cases - except for certain circumstances that a DM shall determine. If a character is being rebuilt item transferring is permitted, but a DM shall have to oversee the process.
Moding is changing your character's properties (such as statistics, appearance and items) to gain an unfair advantage. This is totally disallowed; in no cases are you permitted to change your character without going through an IG and IC process. All characters created on the server will start at the same point.
- Requests, such as LETOs, are an exception to this, however they must be accepted by the staff.
