This is how people get around in Shinma.
HORSE & CARRIAGE [MOST COMMON]
Horse and carriage or caravan is the most commonly used form of transportation in Shinma. Almost everyone has a horse when traveling from place to place, or any other form of animal pulling carriage/caravan combos like donkeys.
EXOTIC CREATURES [RARE]
Rare and exotic creatures are not usually used for personal travel as they are unreliable and hard to stable when you are in a city. None the less, that doesn't stop people from using them but still, very rare and hard to rely on, especially for long-distance travel and adventuring. Sometimes they are easily agitated and temperamental too so not ideal for adventuring. Only Aelamvmaal and Gisildaigaon have rare creatures; the drakes and Pegasus.
FLYING ITEMS [RARE]
Have arcane magic and want to enchant something to make it fly? These are the most unconventional forms of travel and they aren't comfortable. Imagine having a broom in between your legs for two hours times? Not comfortable at all. No one really does this except for new mages that don't know any better. More so, know how many fatalities there have been by people who have died during storms while riding such flimsy enchanted items? We don't recommend it - for your own safety of course.
WINGS [Uncommon]
Wings are not ideal for extended travel but are amazing for short distance travel. It makes for quick and easy traveling if you can rely on your own flying ability - depending on your character's race. That being said - people get tired after flying for a while and will need rest along the way so as stated - this is not good for long travel across the lands of Shinma.
PORTALS [UNCOMMON - RARE - LIMITED]
Licensed mages who are aligned with The Arcane Institute have the ability to make portals. While they are convenient and the easiest form of travel - it is extremely draining, especially considering how far away you are going to be traveling regarding the portal in question. The further away from the location, the more power is drained from the mage. A portal can deplete a Mage's magic for a good twenty-four hours at times.
TELEPORTATION [UNCOMMON - RARE - LIMITED]
Skilled magic users have the ability to transport themselves to anywhere in Shinma they might like to go. Please note that this use of magic can at times be draining, depending on how far you are traveling. You also need a clear picture of where you are going to turn up when using Teleportation or you can get lost doing so. You cannot teleport into a structure either. You can only teleport out into the open - like onto a street or a clearing in the woods. You cannot pop up inside of someone's home, but you can teleport in front of it. Use of teleportation(OOC permission) - as stated - can drain a magic user of their magic for a short period of time so a rest is usually needed afterwards.
